Windows Frame Colors

There are a number of ways a manufacturer can finish or paint windows and door frames. Three common approaches are: Standard Wet Paint, Powder Coating and Anodizing.

With Wet Paint, the process involves pre washing the frame in an acid bath to completely clean the aluminum frame. This process is important for maintaining a long paint life on the window.

There are many different type of paints that can be applied. Most are plasticized resin products. Paint quality has a direct correlation to how well the window will hold up over time so make sure it’s a quality product.

TM Windows uses standard Polycron (plasticized) & optional Duranar (high performance Kynar) paint from the recognized industrial paint manufacturer PPG. In addition to using top quality paint, TM Windows has a wide range of standard colors and can match any color requests.

Power Coating is not a wet application like with paint. It provides a shiny finish quality, but is not known to last as long as wet paint or anodized finishes.

Anodizing frames is a process where the actual frame is placed in an special acid solution and then hooked up to an electrical current. With this process the color is actually etched into the frame. It is a very long lasting finish and only can be done to two colors (silver or natural aluminum and bronze). It’s an expensive process and if the frame is scratched, there is no way to fix this problem. In adddition, the color will vary.
